Blood Donations: Hart Needs Your Help

By Ellie Nixon | 2nd June 2021

Hart needs your help!

We are currently looking for additional blood donors to provide fresh blood samples. As part of our routine Quality Control testing, we need the samples to test diagnostic products for multiple clinical applications. We also need the blood samples in order to test new products that we are developing to ensure we are on the right track for our customer needs.

We have a pool of donors in the house but we grow as a business, we are on the lookout for additional donors.

A typical blood donation session will comprise of eight donors and the blood collection takes 5 minutes for 20-40ml (about a tablespoon or two) of blood. We will always work around your commitments and volunteering is never compulsory. Also, we are flexible as you can come to us or we can come to you to take your blood sample.

As it's national volunteers week, it is a time to say thanks for the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering (1). Hart has sponsored many sporting events, such as football and rugby tournaments which we have invited our blood donors to. This has been a great way for us to say thank you to the people who have volunteered and donated blood to help us.

To make donating as safe as possible for everyone due to COVID-19 (2) we have made a few changes:

  • Ensure that you are not displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 before donating
  • Please wait 7 clear days from your vaccine before donating
  • Please wear a face covering (3) (unless exempt) to cover both your mouth and nose (our staff will too!)

Our staff will perform additional cleaning of surfaces prior and after your donation.

If you are interested and would like to help, please contact us at: blood@hartbio.co.uk
