Sandra has spent the last twenty years working for North Tees and Hartlepool Hospital Trust, firstly at the University Hospital of Hartlepool before moving to North Tees, in Stockton.
After working in both the Rheumatology Department and the Medical Directorate, Hartlepool-born Sandra wanted to move from the public sector and looked for a position closer to home which could provide her with a new challenge.
Sandra said: “Over the past twenty years I’ve become used to working in a hospital environment and I thought it was time to adapt my skills and look for a change.
“Hart Biologicals has definitely provided this. I am now working in an environment that allows me to carry out tasks and projects on behalf of the company."
Sandra, alongside fellow Phlebotomist Richard Chapman, travels to schools and colleges within the local area, collecting vital blood samples for testing.
She added: “My position requires me to look at what’s needed by way of blood supplies and try to meet it for the team. We have a lot of blood donation volunteers in Hartlepool, but we are still looking for more.
“Although I’ve been taking blood for many years from patients, Hart Biologicals has just recently sent me on a course to ensure I have the relevant skills required to complete my role confidently.
“It’s definitely been a new challenge for me to get into and I’m looking forward to continuing my work with the company.”
