TRAP-6 | HB-5533-FG | 2 x 1.0 ml | 1mM | 8 hours | 14 days | 3 years |
Hart Biologicals TRAP-6 Reagent is used to diagnose platelet dysfunction, or normal platelet activity in human platelet rich plasma or whole blood.
TRAP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide that activates the thrombin receptor independent of receptor cleavage, without triggering fibrin formation.
TRAP-6 has the amino acid sequence {SER}{PHE}{LEU}{LEU}{ARG}{ASN} (PAR-1). Of the PAR peptides, PAR-1 is more important for generating pro-coagulant activity in humans as its specific activation with the thrombin receptor-activating peptide (TRAP)-enhanced clotting of whole blood that was not further enhanced by PAR-4 activation.[9] It corresponds to amino acids 42 to 47 of the thrombin receptor and mimics the effects of thrombin.
Thrombin is a very potent platelet activator. Its action is not blocked by anti-platelet drugs such as Aspirin or Clopidogrel. TRAP-6 can be used as an alternative to Thrombin as a platelet activator as it is easily standardized and more stable than thrombin. TRAP-6 can be used to detect the action of GpIIb/IIIa antagonists such as Reopro, Aggrastat or Integrillin.
